The Bellarine property scene over the past few years has had a huge growth spurt of interest. The amount of people relocating from Melbourne for a sea change has been astounding and the infrastructure that has been developed around the different areas of the Bellarine has drawn prices up in real estate.

Ocean Grove is still the best place to put your money. With a new shopping centre coming to completion and its location between the beach, bay and Geelong, it’s sure to keep pushing forward in price. There’s only a fifteen-minute drive to Queenscliff to catch the ferry over to Sorento and just under half an hour to get to the Portarlington ferry to Melbourne. Ocean Grove main beach is a huge stretch of water providing fun for all during the summer and waves all year round for the dedicated surfers. With quality development around the local area and amazing views in certain spots, it’s well worth checking out a few inspections.

Barwon Heads has really pushed forward with price. Being such a small town, it keeps property sought after all year round and draws some intense bidding to buy into this perfect little lifestyle. With the Barwon River dividing the border between Ocean Grove and this lovely little town, you’ll find fisherman all throughout the year trying their luck tackling this challenging system. Also, Thirteenth Beach just outside of town provides some of the best surf in Victoria, with quality breaks such as Beacon which plays as a back up to the Bells Beach Rip Curl Pro surfing competition. Be ready to pay into the millions to secure yourself a house in this neck of the woods, though it’s worth every dollar.

Maybe one of the best investments you can make now would be Portarlington. With the ferry going back and forth to Melbourne, it has bridged the gap on the commute and the benefits have shown as prices have already started to rise quickly. A beautiful little fishing town with some great eat outs and home to some of the best vineyards in Victoria, you will still find a bargain hunting around properties over a weekend. Get up on the hill and you’ll get amazing views of the bay, You Yangs and even Melbourne. This is an area to keep your eyes on in the future and as the ferry becomes more frequent, I think it will push plenty of Melbourne money into the redevelopment of this perfect location.

There are still plenty of other options throughout the Bellarine and worth searching around for the right property to suit what you’re looking for. I would try to research as much as possible, starting with these three suburbs and feel confident to invest your money into this beautiful part of the world. There’s huge potential in the future of the Bellarine and once you visit, you’ll find it hard to leave.
