Use common sense and logic when deciding on your agent

It’s difficult to decide which agent to choose when interviewing. A lot of us have been trained so well in what to say, that not only do we all come across a little different, we can all sound like the best agent for you. This is our job, this is the part that we put the most effort into, our job is to get as many listings as possible, so the better we pitch for business, the better we do as an agent.

But here’s something that we can easily forget in the hype of choosing the best agent and where I think most bad experiences come from. A lot of the time, we forget to use common sense. An agent who pitches about how good they are and all the amazing results they’ve got and how they’re telling you they’ll get you the best price and tell you all these big numbers to get you excited, well that agent is the majority and in all honesty, there is not one section of their pitch that actually explains how they’re going to get you the best price.

Your agent should be confident in providing you the best personalised strategy for your property that will attract the most buyers and create the highest competitive price. Their strategy should come across logically sound and your gut should guide you in making the decision to hire that agent.

It’s very easy to be blinded with inflated appraisals and over confident agents who beat the chest louder than the rest. But unless you’re looking for the strongest gorilla to sell your property, invest your money into the agent who has sold you the best strategy, has confidence in their skill to negotiate and most importantly keep you fully informed with your property so that you can always make informed decisions.
