It’s time for a sea change

More and more people are opting to leave the big smoke and head on down the coast. It’s a different lifestyle where you can slow the pace down and just go with the flow, living day to day, not having to many cares in the world. It also offers great economical value as pricing in certain coastal towns are quite inexpensive compared to the city and you definitely get more bang for your buck.

If you’ve contemplated this move, I would suggest you direct your attention to Ocean Grove as your destination. This is a quirky town with everything you need and a continuous surge in infrastructure, which is creating a greater community. It sits about thirty minutes from Geelong CBD and has a beautiful coastline expanding all the way through Point Lonsdale and onto the Port Phillip Heads. The people are salt of the Earth and there’s always something to do around the area.

It’s in part of the Bellarine Peninsula which has endless amounts of attractions, from fishing on the bay all the way to enjoying the arvo at one of many quality wineries. The food on offer in OG (Ocean Grove) is fantastic and the options are growing all the time. Definitely take the time out to go to Chang Noi for some Thai or even get a pizza from Seaside Pizza and Pasta (the margherita pizza is amazing). Otherwise take a twenty five minute trip to Portarlington and get yourself some amazing homemade Italian at Praja, Michael is from Calabria and makes everything from scratch.

The surf beaches are great around the area. OG main is supervised during the summer and is a little gentler for the beginner, otherwise shoot around the corner to thirteenth beach as you start progressing your skill. Only thirty minutes away, you can visit Bells Beach or Winkipop and surf with the pros.

If this is the lifestyle you think only happens in dreams, then wake up and do it. It will change your life and the best part is you have easy access to Melbourne if need be via the Vline train from Marshalltown station or even catch the ferry over from Portarlington. You should try it out, rent or buy, either way… you’ll never look back.
